The zipper is the whole point
It opens from the bottom as well as the top, so a 3am change means unzipping the lower half instead of undressing a sleeping baby. The cuffs fold over the hands to stop newborn nails, and over the feet to turn a footless romper into a footed one — a few extra months out of the same garment.
